Expected Distance to First Encounter of a Mine in a Minefield.

Abstract

This paper applies the theory of order statistics to determine the expected distance to first encounter of a mine in a minefield. The minefield is assumed rectangular in shape with a uniform distribution of mines. The path swept in the minefield is straight. (Author)
