Development of Factor-Referenced Subscales for the Vocational Interest-Career Examination.

Abstract

This report describes the development of factor-referenced subscales for the Vocational Interest-Career Examination (VOICE). The 400-item inventory was administered to random samples of Air Force male (N=10,035) and female (N=12,710) recruits. Eighteen integer-weighted subscales were constructed based on a factor analysis of item responses. Psychometric and normative data on the scales are presented for both male and female subroups. Concurrent validation studies were performed with the Navy Vocational Interest Inventory and the Army Classification Inventory. (Author)
