Diagnostic Use of Liquid Crystal Detectors in Microstrip Antenna Design.

Abstract

Liquid crystal detector sheets can be used to visually display the field structure on and around planar antenna structures such as microstrip patch elements and arrays. The display aids in diagnosing feed placement problems in single elements, and pinpoints mismatch and asymmetries in array feeds. The loading effects of the detector sheets is examined and found to be of no serious consequence. (Author)
