Dynamic Stability of One-Dimensional Nonlinearly Viscoelastic Bodies.

Abstract

Systems of partial differential equations governing the motion of one-dimensional bodies subject to internal friction are treated. The implicit function theorem is used to linearize the equations about an equilibrium solution, and criteria are developed for the stability of the equilibrium solution. (Author)
