Rifle Evaluation Study

Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the employment of small arms to determine the desired military characteristics of a rifle; to assess the M14, M14 (USAIB), AR-15, AK-47, and SPIW to determine the preferable weapon in meeting the desired military characteristics; to make recommendations on retention of the M14, adoption of the AR-15, and development of the AK-47 type and SPIW.
