Recrystallisation of RDX at W.R.E.

Abstract

Recrystallisation techniques for producing small scale batches of the explosive RDX in various particle sizes have been investigated. A plant has been set up and procedures have been established for the recrystallisation of RDX Class, A, C, D or E from Australian manufactured RDX using either cyclohexanone or acetone. The potential capability for producing RDX in other particle sizes is also demonstrated. (Author)
