Small Scale Discharge Studies

Abstract

This report has investigated the possibility of building high power visible and UV lasers. A likely method of scaling visible lasers to high average powers is by e-beam controlled discharges. The discharge physics of Ar/ N2, N2/NO and SF6/N2 mixtures has been investigated. These laser mixtures were chosen because they effectively cover the wide variety of discharge conditions one is apt to encounter.
