An Experimental Design to Evaluate the Effects of Job Enrichment and Goal Setting on Satisfaction and Productivity.

Abstract

The purpose of this research effort was to design a field experiment to test the effects of job enrichment and goal setting on worker satisfaction and productivity in a large Department of Defense organization. Individual demographic data and pretest survey results were obtained from the organization which is to participate in the experiment. This research includes: (1) the plan for the overall experiment; (2) a discussion of the threats to validity that must be considered in the experiment; and (3) procedures, criteria, and recommendations for the selection of specific sections to participate in the experiment.
