Structure and Nitration of Some Aza-substituted Adamantanes.

Abstract

The preparation of a series of 7-substituted-1,3,5-triazaadamantanes is described. The compounds are characterised by means of NMR and IR spectroscopic studies and microanalytical data. Carbon 13 and Hydrogen 1 NMR data provide conformational information on the 1,3,5-triazaadamantanes. Five different nitration media are employed in the study of nitration reactions. Various products are isolated depending upon reaction conditions and studied by means of NMR spectroscopy.y. Attempts to observe intermediates in the nitration reactions by means of Hydrogen 1 NMR are not successful. (Author)
