Glossary of Japanese Terms Used in Hydrography and Physical Oceanography.

Abstract

The following glossary of Japanese terms used in hydrography and physical oceanography has been prepared for use in the Branch Hydrographic Office, Tokyo, and is based on terms encountered to date in a review of Japanese scientific periodicals. To better meet the needs of a hydrographic office it has been considered advisable to include also common terms used in connection with vessel operation and coast surveying. The Romanized Japanese terms have been separated into phonetic units, to facilitate reading. (Author)
