Photochemistry of Tetrafluorodiphosphine and Chemistry of Chelating Fluorophospine Ligands.

Abstract

The photoreaction of tetrafluorodiphosphine with carbon-carbon multiple bonds has been shown to be a viable means for the preparation of a new class of bidentate ligand molecules. A rather wide variety of structural modifications and substituents is possible though with widely varying yields of products. These variations are rational ones viewed in terms of normal electronic and steric factors. These ligand molecules will react with amines to give a variety of additional molecules having mixed ligating sites.
