An Interactive Model to Compute the Officer Manpower Plan for the United States Marine Corps.

Abstract

This report describes a mathematical model and a set of associated interactive APL functions which are used to calculate an officer manpower plan for the United States Marine Corps. This plan is used during the budget preparation cycle and represents the future forecasted and planned force structure by rank. A complete plan can be calculated and printed in less than five minutes. This is a considerable reduction from the times involved in hand calculations. This increase in speed allows the planning officers to try many alternate plans in a short period of time, and do sensitivity analysis on certain data elements such as loss rates. (Author)
