Rational Synthesis of New Unidimensional Solids: Chemical and Physical Studies of Mixed Valence Polyiodides.

Abstract

This article surveys recent research in the author's laboratory on rationally synthesizing mixed valence materials, and on studying physicochemical properties of the resulting products. The resonance Raman/iodine-129 Mossbauer technique for charge distribution analysis is first outlined, then results in the areas of partially-oxidized bisdioximates and phthalocyanines are discussed.
