Adaptive Exponential Smoothing

Abstract

The adaptive exponential smoothing technique, and its utility for international affairs analysis, is discussed. Both monitoring and forecasting aspects of the technique are described. Calculation procedures are illustrated and worked through in an example using international event/interaction data.
