Computer Family Architecture Selection Committee Final Report. Volume V. Procedure For and Results of the Evaluations of Software Bases of the Candidate Architectures for the Military Computer Family.

Abstract

One of the primary reasons for adopting the architecture of an existing successful computer family as the architecture for a future Military Computer Family is the potential utility of the existing support software base. As such, the evaluation of the amount of support software for each of the three finalist architectures was deemed to constitute a very important factor in the overall selection process. This paper details the software evaluation process utilized as well as the quantitative results of that process. (Author)
