Personnel Turbulence and Time Utilization in an Infantry Division.

Abstract

Purpose of this study was to obtain a clearer picture of turbulence and time utilization patterns to aid in the design of an individual extension training system (IETS). Through analyses of company manning reports and extensive direct observations of training, levels and patterns of turbulence and time utilization were obtained. The amount of movement both in and out of a company and within a company was found to be considerable. Also, the amount of time spent during a typical training day in actual training was small. Suggestions for further exploration into causes and possible amelioration are reported. (Author)
