At the Interface of Modeling and Algorithms Research.

Abstract

This paper looks at the efforts of the PILOT Modeling Group and the Solution Methods Group and provides a presentation that describes some of the synergistic interactions that permit each effort to benefit in a substantive way from the day-to-day problems and the accompanying experience of the other. These efforts are beginning to complement in an important way the essential research activity of the other. Areas covered include model modifications in the PILOT System brought about by the computational realities and an outline of the work on testing algorithms for solving large-scale systems using PILOT.
