On the Convexity of the Hadley-Whitin Lost Sales Inventory Model and the Characterization of Its Minimum Solution.

Abstract

A standard inventory model involving lost sales provided by a standard reference is examined for flaws in the derivation of its optimal solution. A revised set of arguments is presented and the optimal solution is then completely characterized. (Author)
