Costs and Benefits of Extensive Electricity Metering at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey.
Abstract
This thesis provides a brief history of utilities conservation and a background on electricity metering in the Navy. A cost analysis is made of the savings that would be required to justify installation of meters in the operational area of the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, using net present value techniques. Cost data from a metering project at Pacific Missile Test Center, Pt. Mugu, California forms a basis for this analysis. The analysis indicates that meters would be justified at the school if an annual savings of electricity resulting from metering could be realized in the range of 2.1% to 7.4%. The thesis concludes that similar analyses should be conducted at other Navy installations to determine the amount of electricity savings that would be required to justify metering. (Author)
