Efficient Computation of Radiation Patterns and Contour Beam Synthesis Using Reflector Antennas.

Abstract

In this report, we discuss two important aspects of reflector antennas, viz., secondary pattern computation of symmetric and offset reflectors and the problem of synthesizing contour beams using reflector antennas. A new technique is described for computing the radiation pattern from the knowledge of the surface current of the reflector, or the primary pattern of the feed. Numerical results illustrating the efficiency of the method are given. Finally, two methods for addressing the problem of synthesizing contour beams are presented. One of these is basically an analytical technique and the other is based on a numerical optimization procedure. (Author)
