The Influence of Learning Strategy and Performance Strategy upon Engineering Design.
Abstract
This scientific note, which was written to accompany Progress Report no. 5, (AD-A050 301) is a detail of an experimental protocol. The picture sequence represents stages in the design of a reaction simulator by two subjects, both of them experts, who were not given specific 'versatility training.' The two subjects worked independently from the same design brief discussed in previous contract reports. Sci. note no. 2 explains the procedure used to obtain these pictures and also to justify it as a general method for quantifying and exteriorizing the design process or many other types of creative activity such as planning and theory building, and including the construction of research hypotheses or 'forecasting.'
