Parametric Study of Hydroacoustic Source Elements for Active Undersea Surveillance.

Abstract

Broadly, the objective of this report is to analyze and develop design parameters for hydroacoustic types of transducers for use in a wide range of low frequency, active surveillance systems or as active adjuncts to existing or planned passive receiving systems. A wide range of frequencies (50 to 1000 Hz) and source levels for individual transducers (195-219 dB re: 1 uPa at 1 m) are covered. Parametric relationships over these ranges are developed. These include size, weight, cost, output power and input power.
