The Stereotype of Scientists and Engineers: Fact or Fiction.

Abstract

The management of research and engineering personnel is a topic of particular interest to those who find themselves, or may find themselves, so involved. A review of the basic theories of human behavior upon which much of motivational management practice is based is conducted. A study of the behavioral patterns of scientists and engineers in a Government Laboratory is conducted. The relationships between the results of this study and current psychological and managerial theory are briefly discussed. (Author)
