Synthetic Seismograms using the State Space Approach.

Abstract

In this paper time-domain state space models for lossless layered media are developed which are described by the wave equation and boundary conditions. Our models are for non-equal one-way way travel time; hence, they are more general than existing models of layered media which are usually for layers of equal one-way travel times. State space models for two cases are (1) source and sensor at the surface and (2) source and sensor in the first layer.
