EMP Scale-Model Testing of an Army Brigade Signal Center.

Abstract

An EMP (electromagnetic pulse) simulation test is conducted on a U.S. Army brigade signal center in 1/100 scale. The bulk currents induced on the modeled system are recorded as the azimuth and angle of incidence of the model simulator are varied. Plots are presented of the peak amplutide of the current versus azimuth angle for various angles of elevation. A comparison is made between the response of the system and that of a single long cable buried near the surface of the ground. (Author)
