Some Physical Properties of Liquids in a Two-Layer Hydrodynamic Model.

Abstract

In the study of internal waves and associated phenomena, three methods of attack have been considered: theoretical analysis, model studies, and field experiments. The purpose of this memorandum is to discuss the results of some studies of the properties of liquids with regard to their use in model studies. The two principal types of model studies made or planned are: (a) a study of the internal wave system in a two-layer liquid model, due to a moving body, (b) the determination of the internal wave-making drag of a body moving in a two-layer liquid system.
