Instructions for use of Punch Cards in Ambient Noise Analysis.

Abstract

Ambient noise in the ocean has been established as a function of many parameters, such as sea state, wind speed, biological noises, etc. Hence, it is necessary to perform large sample statistical analyses to investigate the effects which each of the various sources has on the noise spectrum. Therefore, an IBM system has been developed to record all the supporting data on each measurement and also to record the final results of the third-octave analysis of each sample. (Author)
