NEL Constructed Prototype of the Sonar Target Converter.

Abstract

The Sonar Target Converter is intended to enable a ship's air controller, using the available sonar and surface search radar, to position a helicopter or fixed wing aircraft over a submerged submarine target. Operational evaluation of a NEL constructed prototype of the equipment showed that it performs its function effectively. The report recommends that the equipment be accepted for service use.
