Virtual Addressing for the EMMY/360.

Abstract

A virtual addressing technique for expanding the address space of the EMMY/360 to 2 million bytes is presented. The scheme uses a translation table of 512 words of EMMY control store, addressed using bits 20:12 of the logical (virtual) program address. The page table entry reflects status of the referenced page i.e. available, or written to. The semantic pointer for each instruction controls whether a logical address is to be translated, or the execution routine is to use the logical address. (Author)
