ARPANET Transition Opportunities and Gateway Considerations

Abstract

Issues in the transition of the ARPANET are discussed and a plan is outlined. The use of gateways is suggested, and issues related to them are discussed. The appendices include comparisons between alternate designs for three families of higher level protocols, host-to-host, terminal access, and file transfer. (Author)
