Statement on the Science and Technology Program

Abstract

The S and T Program covers the spectrum of critical military technologies from munitions, guidance and control and electronics through materials, mathematics and physics, through oceanographic and environmental sciences to chemical and biological defense and to vital areas of training, safety, food, nutrition and life sciences. The S and T Program addresses the important objectives of (1) providing the most technologically effective and safe environment possible for the individual engaged in a combat situation, (2) providing the most technologically advanced and effective weapons and defensive systems for all combat arenas ranging from space to underseas and (3) expediting the progress of ideas and inventions from their conception to their final manifestation as technologically superior fielded weapons and logistics systems in our military inventory.
