Structural Optimization by Finite Element.

Abstract

The relations existing between optimality criteria and mathematical programming methods of structural synthesis are examined. Generalized optimality criteria are proposed which are equivalent to a sequence of approximate problems in which the constraints are linearized in the space of the inverse of the design variables. From this equivalence a certain number of mixed approaches are derived which retain some of the essential properties of mathematical programming methods and of optimality criteria. (Author)
