Study of Refractory Material for Use in a Slagging Coal Gasifier.

Abstract

The atmosphere and the slagging conditions that exist in slagging a fixed-bed Lurgi-type coal gasifier requires dense high-alumina-type refractories that are low in iron and silica. To resist the slags that are formed, the dense high-alumina-type refractories are needed to obtain a feasible life, as a result of the corrosion and erosion. The use of water-cooling coils to cool the refractory material could result in a catastrophe in the event of a leak. (Author)
