Impact and Penetration Technology Program Parametric Study

Abstract

A series of parametric studies are performed to predict the influence of variations in media, velocity, orientation, W/A and L/D on terradynamic impact and penetration performance for representative earth penetrator configurations. The parametric study was performed using an Avco-developed differential force law. The basic equations used are presented and discussed. The results of the parametric studies are presented in summary form and the significance of the data discussed. (Author)
