Normal and Abnormal Aspects of Immunologic Regulation.

Abstract

The conference opened with a general discussion of the regulation of immune responses by suppressor T cells and soluble suppressor factors. The remainder of the first session dealt with the role of antigen-presentation and feedback inhibition in regulation of immune responses. The second session dealt with the immunoregulatory effects of the major histocompatibility complex and I-region gene products. The influences of regulator cells (T-helper and T-suppressor) in autoimmunity was also discussed in detail. The fourth session dealt with the role of macrophages and other non-T and non-B lymphocytes in the regulation of the immune response. The final session discussed the regulation of immunity by modification of antigen structure and the regulatory role of key antigenic determinants and peptides. (Author)
