Theory of Control and Communication Systems Applicable to the Design of Aerospace Systems.

Abstract

Thirty six publications, four theses, and one report were published during the period of this grant. The research was conducted in the areas of system identification, stochastic control, nonlinear white noise theory, distributed systems, and computing algorithms. Perhaps the item of maximum immediate practical interest to the Air Force is in the area of Aircraft Flight Testing where flight test data from a Lockheed Jet Star was processed to extract stability and control derivatives as well as the intensity of the turbulence, demonstrating a new technique for handling flight data containing large gust response components.
