Survey of Conversion Support Software,

Abstract

This survey of conversion support software was compiled to be used by the Federal COBOL Compiler Testing Service in its implementation of a Federal Conversion Support Center. It includes items which deal with portability as well as conversion, reflecting the compiler's belief that problem avoidance (developing portable software) is at least as important as problem solution (conversion), and that the two issues are closely related. Ergo the inclusion of programming aids such as higher-level language processors. No attempt has been made to date to evaluate each of these software tools -- such an evaluation is best performed by the organization planning the use of these tools. Where available, a mailing address for a given company or source is included. (Author)
