Air Force Retirees as Mobilization Assets.

Abstract

Report uses 4 categories of retirees (regular enlisted between 20th and 30th service dates, other regular enlisted, regular officers and reserve officers). It then develops, for each category for FY 78 and 82, the estimated numbers available (182,000 in FY 78) and their characteristics (age, service, years retired, skill and grade). It analyzes the legal status and recallability criteria for each group. AF regular retirees are most available with President able to recall about 174,000 for duty at any time. This could be for training, physicals, short or long term assignment in peace or war. (Author)
