R and D Equipment Information Report. Time Lapse Storage System.

Abstract

Equipment is described which stores and plays back data obtained by a coherent meteorological radar. The Time Lapse Storage System (TLS) operates in two modes, Acquire and Recall. Acquire facilitates the transfer of up to 400 sets of data from four color CRT displays to an 80 megabyte disc, either at user specified intervals or at the end of each antenna scan. During Recall, sets of data are transferred from the 80 megabyte disc to the displays. The user specifies which sets of data he wishes to view and the length of real time display for each set in order to visually track the progress of storm cells. (Author)
