The Wife of the Career-Oriented Submariner in Mid-Life Transition.

Abstract

The wife of a career-oriented, senior submariner experienced a mid-life transition between the ages of 30 and 35 which was typified by attributes previously discussed in the literature as well as increased responsibilities of her traditional role playing, completed family, increased leisure time, and ambivalence toward her husband's time-consuming position and her own reflected status. This paper presents case study material in illustration as well as avenues of resolution available to the woman. (Author)
