Mathematics in the Field of History.

Abstract

In this paper the author emphasizes the symbol manipulation capacity of the digital computer and provides examples to illustrate this. Finally, he discusses kladistics, a theory connecting one event with another, a fundamental part of the field of history. There are many applications of mathematics to history, and he has made no attempt to cover all of them; rather, he emphasizes how much opportunity exists. He provides references for further reading.
