Tagging of Arctic Icebergs.

Abstract

An air-deployable iceberg tagging system has been developed for use from a C-130 aircraft. The system consists of a steel dart with a trailing buoyant line which can be attached to a floating instrument package. The system allows for considerable melting and rolling of the iceberg, but cannot survive calving in the vicinity of the dart. (Author)
