Investigation of the Technical and Operational Feasibility of Using a VHF Data Link for Transmission of Intermittent Positive Control (IPC). Volume I.

Abstract

This report presents the results of an investigation of using a VHF Data Link to transmit collision avoidance commands to aircraft operating in the National Air Space. Operational scenarios are developed and system capacity evaluations are performed to establish the operational feasibility of the concept. Identification of potential concepts considered feasible generated the design and cost development of the avionics required in support of the prepared operation of IPC on a VHF Data Link. (Author)
