Principles of Jet Engine Operation

Abstract

This manual is primarily a guide for pilots, Naval Flight officers, and engineers attending the U. S. Naval Test Pilot School. The purpose of this manual is to present the concepts underlying the gas turbine engine, to develop the component characteristics, and to combine the components into an 'operating' engine. The configurations considered are the turbojet, the by-pass and the turbo-prop engines.
