Comments on Airborne (Air-to-Surface) Forward Fired Large Caliber Gun Fire Control.

Abstract

This report is written to record selected data from fire control work connected with a large caliber gun (air-to-surface) study. An informal and sometimes outline format is used for convenience and to minimize report preparation time and cost. This limited fire control study was directed towards identifying problem areas and a more promising fire control system for this application. The primary risk of developing the required very accurate fire control is in (a) keeping system accuracy in the service (particularly combat) environment and (b) the probability of this in-service accuracy requirement leading to a high lifecycle cost.
