An Ultraviolet Photometric Detector for Use in Gas Chromatography.

Abstract

An ultraviolet photometric detector, which responds only to aromatic constituents in the vapor state, has been designed and constructed for use in gas chromatography. The unit exhibits appreciably greater sensitivity than the thermal conductivity detector. It was tested by chromatographing a variety of fuels including JP-4, JP-8, Jet-A, and regular gasoline. Tests indicate that the unit provides a viable means of determining the aromatic composition of fuels. (Author)
