Report of Progress in the Development of an Electron Impact Ionization Model.

Abstract

Electron impact ionization cross sections are calculated in the distorted wave approximation. Preliminary results are given for the ground state ionization cross section for H, He(+), and Mg(+) as well as for the 2s excited level for H and are compared with the corresponding calculations using the Born approximation. In the case of H, individual and total angular momenta contributions to the partial collision strength are presented. (Author)
