PHHS. A Fortran Programme for Ship Pitch, Heave and Seakeeping Prediction.

Abstract

The theoretical basis and user's manual are described for the computer program PHHS (Pitch and Heave in Head Seas), developed for seakeeping prediction purposes. In addition to the usual vertical motion calculations, algorithms are included for added resistance, relative motion corrections (wave profile and dynamic swell-up), slamming pressures, and human tolerance to vertical motion. Worked examples and a FORTRAN listing of the program are included.
