The Evaluation of Less-Lethal Weapons

Abstract

The primary program objective was to establish a methodology for evaluating the merits of candidate less-lethal weapons. The first portion of the work was done in Fiscal Year 1973 and was concerned with weapons that employ kinetic energy as the effects mechanisms. Treatment of other mechanisms (chemical, electrical) was general, with detailed work completed in mid-1975. This report pulls this work together and presents the state-of-the-art as of late 1976.
