Time Domain Solutions for Electromagnetic Coupling.

Abstract

This research program investigated a new tool for the analysis of electro-magnetic coupling and shielding problems: the finite-difference, time-domain (FD-TD) solution of Maxwell's equations. The objective of the program was to evaluate the suitability of the FD-TD solution to determine the amount of electromagnetic coupling through an aperture into an enclosed conducting container. Two specific geometries were used for the evaluation. The first, a conducting cylinder with one open end. The other, the guidance section of a missile. Each of the two geometries was modeled to calculate the electro-magnetic field coupled into the structure and the results were compared to data previously obtained by other techniques. (Author)
